The Details

Taken in Chamonix in February 2021, this was a moment that would not be forgotten. The day began with the sky taking on a pale orange hue, only to later discover that Saharan dust had travelled thousands of kilometres across the Mediterranean to reach the French Alps.

Carried north by strong winds, the dust transformed the familiar winter landscape. White snow turned shades of ochre and amber, while the mountains gradually disappeared beneath an extraordinary orange haze.

The event was visible across parts of Europe. For a brief moment, two seemingly distant and unrelated landscapes came together.

This giclée print is part of a signed and numbered limited edition of 50 complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Materials Used

Museum-quality fine art giclée print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper using archival pigment inks.

Method of Creation

Each artwork begins with one of my original photographs and is professionally produced as a fine art giclée print by specialist fine art printers in the United Kingdom.
Giclée printing is widely regarded as the gold standard in fine art reproduction, using archival pigment inks to achieve exceptional colour accuracy, tonal range and detail. This process allows the subtle light, atmosphere and texture within the original photograph to be faithfully reproduced.

The print measures 59.4 cm x 84.1 cm (including a narrow white border for framing purposes) and is produced on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper, one of the world's most respected fine art papers. Manufactured by Hahnemühle, a German papermaker founded in 1584, this archival-quality paper features a distinctive textured surface that enhances depth, richness and detail while giving the print an elegant, tactile quality.

Combined with archival pigment inks, the result is a museum-quality fine art print with exceptional longevity and fade resistance for up to 100 years under normal display conditions.
